Historically, psychedelic compounds or Entheogenic (soul awakening) substances have been used as a tool for healing and self-discovery. Even the origins of lab-created substances were intended for healing and human discovery. Despite the promise shown in early research, social and political forces led to decades of fear and repression of psychedelics. Thus their healing potential was hidden from mainstream society and excluded from psychiatric education and clinical use.
Through this repression, psychedelic use fell to the fringes and came to be viewed as recreational and potentially risky. In recent years however, there has been a resurgence of interest in psychedelics both within the scientific community and the population at large. An ever-increasing number of people are turning to psychedelic retreats, personal use or guided journeys. It is beneficial for health providers and therapists to understand this process in order to better serve clients who are seeking, or have had, experience with psychedelics.
In this 6 week comprehensive online course taught by psychedelic guide and microdosing consultant and coach, Sarah Hope, and psychedelic integration psychotherapist, Jill McCormick, our objective is to empower health providers with knowledge and perspectives about psychedelics and their potential uses for healing.
